Middletown, CT: Wesleyan University Press, 1978. 21.5x15.5cm: 281pp. First Wesleyan Edition. Cream-colored cloth boards, with blue titling and compass design to front and spine. Blue stained top edge. Unclipped dust jacket, repeating the design on the front and spine, with color scheme reversed. Slight sag to text block, but otherwise a tight copy. Dust jacket shows minor shelf wear, has a small tear and crease to top of front panel, and some blue vertical rub marks on back panel. Some wear and minor loss to front pastedown. Near Fine in a Near Fine dust jacket.
This edition is a facsimile of the first trade edition published by Brewer and Warren in 1930, which tells “the story of an actual voyage to Greenland in a small boat; of shipwreck there and of what, if anything, happened afterwards.” Magnificently illustrated by Kent with eight full-page and over 100 half-page illustrations reproduced by woodblock prints.
