Out is an American LGBTQ news, fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle magazine founded in 1992. In the late 1990s the magazine shifted its focus to a more affluent and style-conscious gay male audience and has since earned the highest circulation of any LGBTQ monthly publication in the United States. This issue features a seven page spread with several black and white photos and an excerpt reproduced from Ellis Amburn’s new (at that time) biography of Kerouac. The excerpt highlights the birth of the Beat Generation as well as some of Kerouac’s homoerotic moments with Allen Ginsberg.
