Mickey Presente: L’Arche de Noé

Paris: Hachette, 1934. 24x18.5cm: 46pp. First French Edition, with text in French. Drawings by Félix Lorioux. Brightly colored, illustrated paper-covered boards reproducing the illustrations on the dust jacket. Illustrated endpapers of paired animals running to the ark in the rain (front) and paired animals leaving the ark on a beautiful sunny day (rear). Fully illustrated with a mix of black-and-white and color illustrations throughout. Wear to edges, spine, and corners, with some exposure. Spine slightly cocked and cracked at several gatherings. Sweet child’s signature to front free endpaper in black pen. Toning to pages, otherwise clean, with illustrations remaining bright. Dust jacket shows wear with creasing, closed tears, and a few shallow chips along edges. Considerable wear along spine, with about 4cm missing at the head. All corners clipped, perhaps as issued. Verso of dust jacket contains a child’s handwriting, numbers, and a drawing. Better Than Very Good in a Good Dust Jacket.

Based on Walt Disney Film’s Silly Symphonies, the animated film Father Noah’s Ark aired on April 8th, 1933. This is a charmingly illustrated French edition of a beloved, yet somewhat horrifying, tale.
