I Am A Black Woman Communist…
[New York]: [Communist Party, U.S.A.], 1972. 22x42cm: Broadside / Poster. A striking and scarce broadside issued for the 20th Convention of the Communist Party, U.S.A., held in New York City. Printed on glossy white stock, this poster features a bold sketched portrait of Angela Davis, signed in plate by the artist, Sherman, at upper right corner. Beneath the portrait appears Davis’s powerful declaration: "I am a black woman Communist – the corrupt government of this country could not accept such a combination – this is why they launch an effort to murder me." Light handling wear, else a fine copy. Institutionally rare, with only one holding located in OCLC (in the U.K.) and another example at the Oakland Museum of California.
