[New York / Connecticut]: Pierpont Morgan Library, Reproduced by The Meriden Gravure Company, 1964. 55.8x35.4cm. Poster printed on textured stock, reprinting the preamble of the charter of the United Nations in French, English, Spanish, and Russian. Light wear and faint toning along edges. The United Nations Charter was signed in San Francisco on June 26, 1945. It officially came into force in October 1945, forming the United Nations after being ratified by the required number of member states. Hermann Zapf (1918 - 2015), celebrated typeface designer and calligrapher, designed the original version of this poster in 1960. Four years later, The Meriden Gravure Company, known for their exceptional printing and image reproduction, reproduced Zapf's design.

A great example of multilingual typography and mid-century poster reproduction techniques.
